Foundations for Transpersonal Psychology (6 hours)
This LIVE online course, via Zoom, fulfills the requirements for SIX CE hours (6 hours). Friday, August 7th, 2026, 8:30 am EST to 4:00 pm EST. Approved by The Ohio CSWMFT Board.
This foundational course introduces licensed counselors, social workers, psychologists, and helping professionals to the core principles, theories, and clinical applications of Transpersonal Psychotherapy. Transpersonal psychology and psychotherapy expands traditional psychological models by recognizing the importance of spirituality, consciousness, meaning-making, human potential, and transformative experiences within mental health and healing. Designed specifically for clinical professionals, this course explores how transpersonal concepts can be ethically and appropriately integrated into evidence-based mental health practice while remaining grounded in professional standards, trauma-informed care, and clinical discernment. Participants will examine the intersection of psychology, mindfulness, neuroscience, spirituality, intuition, and consciousness studies through a clinically responsible lens. The course emphasizes the development of therapeutic presence, self-awareness, and ethical attunement while helping clinicians differentiate between spiritual experiences, existential crises, and psychopathology. Participants will also explore how transpersonal frameworks can deepen case conceptualization, enhance therapeutic relationships, and support post-traumatic growth and meaning-centered healing. This training is appropriate for clinicians seeking to integrate holistic and transpersonal perspectives into psychotherapy, coaching, trauma work, mindfulness practices, and integrative behavioral health settings. Participants will walk away with knowledge allowing them to:
Define the foundational principles and historical development of transpersonal psychology.
Describe the contributions of major theorists including Carl Jung, Abraham Maslow, Stanislav Grof, and other transpersonal contributors.
Differentiate transpersonal psychology from traditional psychodynamic, behavioral, and humanistic approaches.
Identify ethical considerations related to integrating spirituality, intuition, and consciousness-oriented interventions into clinical practice.
Distinguish spiritual emergence and spiritually transformative experiences from symptoms of psychopathology.
Apply transpersonal concepts to clinical case conceptualization and treatment planning.
Describe how mindfulness, embodiment, meaning-making, and expanded awareness may support psychological healing and resilience.
Integrate culturally responsive and trauma-informed approaches when discussing spirituality and consciousness within therapy.
